Pulling back the curtain

For the last few months we’ve been occasionally running a “did you know?” feature in print that offers a quick insight into some aspect of how the newspaper is made. The entries are based on questions and comments I’ve encountered from readers and subscribers in the community.

Here’s one from the Jan. 17, 2024 issue:

We’ve also started archiving them on our website.

I see this as another form of transparency that aims to remove any mystery or assumptions about how and why we do what we do, and that helps to sustain the trust and support of our readers.

It may end up being mostly “inside baseball” but I’ve had a number of folks already say they appreciate it.
